On this side of the ocean..
Well, its the night before the big trip overseas to East Africa! I'm tired, excited, and have a million little details all floating in my head. I guess the one thing I'm thinking about is, "will my life really be affected by this trip?" What should I expect? Listening to Dale talk about the trip on Wednesday night and how we are going to visit an orphange in Northern Uganda where we will meet children who used to be child soilders, I don't see how I couldn't. I'm thinking since I couldn't even listen to the story of these children without tearing up, it may be something I will never forget. I have been to South America and have seen poverty, seen children living in garbage, sewage. I've seen 12 people living in a one room house with a tarp for a roof. I mean, we see people living on the streets in America, kids with no food. Somehow, this is going to be different. Somehow, this is going to open my eyes to a whole new world. A world that only seemed real in pictures. I only pray that God could use someone like me to make a difference in a child's life. After all, what do I have to give?! One verse is playing over in my head..1 Corinthians 2:9b "no eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him." I'm thinking of those who think they have no purpose, they have no idea....what God has prepared for them that love Him.
