new beginnings

Well, most of you already have seen on facebook but..introducing..FashionEastA! This "business"was started because of my love for fashion and love for missions. The name is spelled FashionEastA because it's Fashion for EAST Africa ;) Just wanted to explain that if anyone was wondering. I explained in my last post how I was beginning to brainstorm ideas on how to contribute and since I was doing "wardrobe consultation" on the side with friends and family, I thought.."why not do it for others too?!" I'm really loving doing this because it's taking an industry that is soo self focused and putting a little spin on it :) My friend Erin really helped me put together my website, etc. and put a lot of work into this and so for her, I am forever grateful :) Thanks, Erin! I have a few exciting updates since beginning FashionEastA. I was able to raise so far in the past few months almost $500, which doesn't seem like much, but goes far in a third world country. I am now in touch with the owner of Greenhouse, Kevin, Catherine's brother. I received information from him about what the money that World Help is now helping him to accomplish there at Greenhouse through a staff member of WH I received this email... (World Help is where I send all donations). This is what he wrote.."We are praising God for wonderful things he is doing for us. We started to receive some money from World Help and this is what we have started with..we used the first disbursement to pay the electric and water bill, and with remaining paid off worker's salaries." Wow, with just a small amount, little is done! How exciting to see when this grows and be able to see other needs be met. He went on in his email to explain they are able to send some kids to school because World Help is now enrolling these kids to be sponsored by others. However, they need $2,000 right away to solve a problem of fees and enrollment so we are praying that this need is met and the kids are able to begin their education. The two main requests that they are trying to get worked out right now is sending the children to school to be educated, and having enough money to feed the children. They are currently spending $1,500 monthly to feed the children once a day (cornmeal) for a month and porridge in the morning (tea like substance). The food prices have gone up, Kevin explains, because of the change of weather. He also said that he has realized that if you don't feed the child properly, they are bound to get sick easily, naturally, because the body isn't getting enough nutrients. My goal is to be able to raise that amount of money each month for them! Shouldn't be too difficult ;)

So, please tell your friends, neighbors, co-workers that they can help out and even sponsor a child through World Help! This will allow the children to go to school and get an education, as so not to repeat the generations of poverty. Also, you can spread the word of FashionEastA services and they can help these children by doing a little "spring cleaning" in their closet while getting savvy fashion tips! Thanks so much to all who have been supporting this ministry so far..it's an organization..and a business..but it's also a ministry. A ministry to inspire others to use what gifts God has given them, no matter how crazy it seems, for HIS Kingdom..not here on earth. THANKS EVERYONE! :)
