Inside the Story-The Acholi Tribe

So I've been thinking about how it's been a little over two months since my return from Africa. I keep this very picture on my desktop so there isn't a day that goes by I don't think of or pray for these children. I feel bad for smiling in this picture..because of the disheartening look of their faces. The one to my left, a boy that never smiled the whole two hours I was with him. The one on the right, a boy that looked like he had already seen life in an unjust way. Then there I am in the middle, smiling because I have these two boys that I just met to take a picture with, two boys that I want to take home with me so they can have more then one meal per day. Will they ever know any other life? Will it even matter to them? I suppose if illness finds them it will. Thankfully, they are too young to know that their families are just settling back into their villiage after a long, five year stretch of being forced out by the LAR (Lord's Resistance Army). Thankfully, they do know have a chance to be educated so they will be able to provide food for themselves. Prayfully, they will not see the days that their mothers and fathers have seen before them. Healing from hurt, disaster, murder and all kinds of evil, this is the Acholi tribe. I pray that as they gather and sing praises, dance, and educate themselves, they will know peace.
