Inside the Story-Day 2

This day was one of the most memorable, I will never forget. We visited the Destiny Village of Hope (they are trying to get away from calling these homes "orphanages") and were welcomed as if we were celebrities. It was humbling, moving, and something I will always treasure. Brought in with music, smiles, and dancing it really made an impression. Also, how amazing it was to see first hand the house that the Rock students worked so hard to raise money for! They are so appreciative!! Highlight: watching Alex tell them that their guests (us) brought ice cream with them. You would think we just told them they won the lottery (if they know what that is). Since the children only get it once a year, there was an uproar of cheering! SO precious! I also wanted to post of picture of the teachers and mothers. I know it's hard to even see them but these are the people that should be on the cover of TIME magazine as being the most influencial! To give of themselves unselfishly and serve these children is very admirable. They are incredible people and need to be lifted up in prayer daily. They also eat only once a day like the children and get ice cream once a year like the children, so when they were offered seconds in our meeting with them...they gladly took up our offer. :)
Most of the children in this home lost their parents to HIV/AIDS, some were half orphans (father died of AIDS, mother couldn't afford them). Also, some of the older children were brought down from Gulu to take out of the trauma of the War. Destiny is doing amazing things for these 1,600 children, they will now not only have a roof over their head but learn that they have a heavenly Father the loves them more then any parent could.
